The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), under the Ministry of Finance, has been recognised as one of the Top 5 Ministries/Departments by the Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law & Justice, for its outstanding implementation of the Legal Information Management & Briefing System (LIMBS).
The award was conferred by the Hon’ble Minister of State for Law & Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, in a formal ceremony. The accolade acknowledges CBIC’s dedication to efficient legal case management and its active role in promoting digital governance through the robust use of LIMBS.
The LIMBS platform is a flagship digital initiative by the Government of India aimed at streamlining litigation-related activities of various ministries and departments. CBIC’s achievement reflects its proactive efforts in leveraging technology for improved transparency, faster resolution of legal cases, and enhanced coordination between legal and administrative functions.
The award plaque, presented on 17th July 2025, was signed by Dr. Anju Rathi Rana, Law Secretary, and lauds CBIC as the Best Performing Ministry in this category.
This recognition not only highlights CBIC’s digital transformation journey but also serves as a model for other government departments aiming to modernize their legal operations and governance frameworks.
