CBIC Assigns Additional Charge of Lucknow GST Zone to Chief Commissioner Manas Ranjan Mohanty

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has assigned the additional charge of the Chief Commissioner, Lucknow GST & Central Excise Zone to Shri Manas Ranjan Mohanty, who is currently serving as Chief Commissioner of the Bhopal GST & CX Zone.

As per the official communication, Mohanty will hold the additional charge of the Lucknow GST & CX Zone alongside his existing responsibilities in Bhopal. This arrangement will remain in effect until a regular appointment is made for the post or until further orders are issued—whichever is earlier.

The move ensures continuity in administrative and operational functions in the Lucknow zone, which is a key jurisdiction under the indirect tax framework in India.

Manas Ranjan Mohanty, a senior officer of the 1992 batch, currently heads the Bhopal GST & CX Zone. With this additional responsibility, he will oversee two major zones simultaneously, reflecting the trust placed in his administrative capabilities and experience.
