CBIC Notifies Agatti Island as New Customs Station in Lakshadweep

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), has issued notification amending the existing customs framework for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep under the Customs Act, 1962.

The notification brings two important changes to Notification No. 62/1994-Customs (N.T.) dated November 21, 1994.

Correction of Entry for Minicoy Island

The words “Minicoy Islands” have been replaced with “(1) Minicoy Island” for clarity and legal precision.

Addition of Agatti Island as a Customs Station

A new entry has been inserted under Serial Number 7A relating to Lakshadweep, designating “(2) Agatti Island” as a customs station. The station is authorized specifically for the unloading and loading of baggage.
