ACC Mumbai To Remove Alert Status from 1,210 Companies Previously Flagged for Customs Compliance Issues Subject To Furnishing Of BRCs

In a major regulatory relief, the Air Cargo Complex (ACC), Mumbai Zone-III, has issued Public Notice No. 24/2024-25, officially removing the “Alert” status on approximately 1,210 companies that were earlier flagged for customs-related compliance concerns subject to furnishing of Bank Realization Certificates (BRCs).
In order to facilitate trade and address operational challenges faced by exporters, it is proposed that the 'Alert' status in the EDI system against exporters may be considered for removal, subject to the submission and verification of the following documents:
• Valid Bank Realisation Certificates (BRCs) from the authorized dealer bank;
• Copy of relevant Shipping Bills;
• Self-certified covering letter requesting alert removal;
• IEC details.
Upon satisfactory verification of these documents, the alert status may be reviewed and potentially removed, provided compliance and realization are duly established.
Exporters may submit these documents via email to [email protected] (with subject line: "BRC Submission - Request for Removal of Alert - [IEC/Exporter Name]') or in hard copy to the CRU, ACC (Export), Sahar, Mumbai or through email at [email protected].
Upon receipt of the required documents from exporters, the concerned officer shall verify the submissions. If found compliant, the "Alert" status in the EDI System will be revoked accordingly.
In case any exporter has already submitted the BRCs or experiences delays in processing, they may escalate the matter by emailing their issue to [email protected] (Subject: "Grievance - Alert Despite BRC Submission"). Such cases will be reviewed by the Additional/Joint Commissioner (Drawback/XOS) for appropriate resolution.
The Exporters were advised to ensure timely submission of Bank Realisation Certificates (BRCs) as per the timelines prescribed under FEMA, regularly monitor the status of their incentive claims through the ICEGATE portal, and maintain active communication preferably through email with the Drawback Section for any pending BRC-related issues to prevent the initiation of recovery proceedings or the imposition of alerts.
In case the export proceeds have not been realized, the exporter shall return the said drawback along with applicable interest.
