Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Union Budget 2025-26, marking her eighth consecutive budget since taking charge in 2019. This makes her the first full-time female Finance Minister to achieve this milestone, surpassing many of her predecessors in terms of consecutive budget presentations. As she takes the floor in Parliament, expectations are high for significant announcements on economic growth, infrastructure spending, and tax reforms, especially with the government aiming to maintain fiscal discipline while ensuring inclusive development.

This year’s budget is particularly crucial as it comes amid global economic uncertainties and India’s ambitious goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy. Sitharaman’s previous budgets have emphasized reforms in taxation, manufacturing, digital economy, and welfare schemes, and the 2025-26 budget is expected to further build on these initiatives. With the Finance Bill 2025 also on the agenda, the budget session will set the tone for India’s financial trajectory in the coming fiscal year.
