The Customs Department under the Thiruvananthapuram (TVM) Zone successfully intercepted multiple contraband consignments this week, resulting in the seizure of gold, narcotics, and electronic goods.

In one operation, officials thwarted an attempt to smuggle gold, recovering 141 grams of the precious metal valued at approximately ₹Rs. 13.71 lakh. The gold was seized at a strategic checkpoint as part of routine surveillance.

In a separate and much larger bust, authorities confiscated a substantial quantity of ganja estimated to be worth ₹Rs. 23.42 crore. The narcotic was intercepted in one of the department’s largest drug seizures in recent months, highlighting the growing vigilance against illegal drug trafficking in the region.

Additionally, electronic items worth ₹36.75 lakh were seized across seven separate cases, pointing to a recurring trend of smuggling high-value gadgets and devices.

The enforcement actions are part of intensified efforts by the Customs TVM Zone to curb cross-border smuggling and safeguard national security. Further investigations are underway to trace the origins and networks behind these illegal activities.
