The Delhi High Court has issued summons to Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the production house owned by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, in a civil defamation suit filed by Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Sameer Wankhede.
According to the petition, Mr. Wankhede has alleged that defamatory and malicious content was published and circulated through a web series produced by Red Chillies Entertainment. The content, he claims, has gravely tarnished his reputation, dignity, and public image, as well as that of his family.
The Court, while issuing summons, observed that the allegations made in the plaint warrant judicial consideration. The matter has now been listed for hearing on a later date, where the defendants are expected to present their response.
Mr. Wankhede, who has previously served in the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and is known for his role in high-profile drug investigations, maintains that the portrayal of his character in the web series was false, misleading, and motivated by malice. The suit seeks legal redress and damages for reputational harm caused by the allegedly defamatory depiction.
In a statement, Mr. Wankhede expressed confidence in the judicial system, stating that he has “full faith in the majesty of law and the judicial process.”
