Inauguration of Customs Office at Vizhinjam Port

​Shri S.K Rahman, Chief Commissioner of Central Taxes and Customs inaugurated the Customs Office at the Vizhinjam International Seaport on 26.03.2025, in the presence of Smt. K Padmavathy, Commissioner of Customs (Preventive), Kochi and Shri Pradeep Jayaraman, CEO, AVPPL. 

The event witnessed participation from key stakeholders, including representatives from the Coast Guard, Immigration, and shipping lines. The inauguration of the Customs Office marks a significant milestone in the operational readiness of Vizhinjam Port, reinforcing its role as a vital hub for maritime trade and logistics.

​As part of the visit, the Chief Commissioner has held in-depth discussions with senior officials of AVPPL regarding port operations and upcoming developments. Additionally, he toured key operational facilities, including the Marine Control Room, Operations Centre, Remote Operations Desk, and Security Control Centre, where the port officials have him presentation on the ongoing activities. 

He has also inspected the upcoming Container Scanner facility, which is set to be commissioned shortly. This infrastructure enhancement is expected to bolster trade facilitation and security measures at the port.

Speaking at the inaugural function, the Chief Commissioner has underscored the critical importance of collaboration between port authorities and all stakeholder agencies to ensure seamless and efficient operations. He has extended his best wishes for the continued success of the port and its stakeholders, reaffirming the vision of “Growth with Goodness.”
