The Delhi Customs has seized the Ganja worth Rs. 3.51 Crore at IGI Airport.
The customs officers of IGI Airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling of green colour NDPS substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana concealed in 07 no. of polythene pouches further containing vacuum sealed polythene packets/pouches on the basis of spot profiling against one male indian passenger who arrived by flight from ho Chi Minh to New Delhi, Terminal-3, IGI Airport, New Delhi.
The pax, after crossing the green channel, was diverted for the x-ray of his personal and baggage searched by the customs officers on duty.
Subsequently, on examination of 07 no. of polythene pouches (outer packing) further containing vaccum sealed polythene packets/pouches recovered from one grey colour trolley bag containing green colour narcotics substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana totally weighing 3513 grams (net weight) was found.
When this material was subjected to diagnostic test, prima facie it appeared to be ganja/marijuana the value of said substance is 3.51 crores approx. in view of the above, it was evident that the pax had violated provisions of section 8 of the NDPS Act, 1985 and had committed offence punishable under section 20, section 23 and section 29 of NDPS Act, 1985. accordingly, the pax was placed under arrest under section 43(b) of NDPS Act, 1985 at about 1400 hrs on 27-05-2025.
The green colour substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana has been seized along with concealing material and packaging under section 43(a) of NDPS Act, 1985. further investigation in the matter is under process.
The net weight of the seized contraband was 3.513 kg, valued at ₹3.51 crores approx. Following a preliminary diagnostic test confirming the substance as ganja/marijuana, the passenger was arrested under Sections 8, 20, 23 & 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. The narcotics and the concealment material were seized under Section 43 of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is ongoing.
