In a significant blow to transnational narcotics trafficking, officers of Customs, Zone III, Mumbai, made a high-profile interception at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (CSMI) Airport, seizing 5.194 kilograms of high-purity cocaine with an estimated street value of Rs. 51.94 crore.
Acting on pinpoint intelligence, the vigilant customs team apprehended a foreign national attempting to smuggle the contraband into the country. In a meticulously executed operation, officers uncovered the narcotics ingeniously concealed within a specially designed waist belt and calf guards worn by the suspect.
The concealment method, authorities noted, was intended to evade detection through conventional screening, pointing to a well-organized international drug smuggling syndicate employing sophisticated tactics.
