The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Kolkata Zonal Unit, successfully carried out a coordinated multi-location operation on 12th September 2025. Acting swiftly in the early hours of the morning, DRI officers executed simultaneous raids at three critical locations – one at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport, Dumdum, and two residential premises in the Bijoygarh area of Jadavpur, Kolkata.
In total, the operation resulted in the seizure of 32.466 kilograms of Cannabis (Ganja), 22.027 kilograms of Hydroponic Weed, 345 grams of Cocaine and a significant amount of unaccounted cash
At one of the residential premises, identified as the operational hub of the racket’s mastermind, authorities seized a substantial stock of Hydroponic Weed, Cannabis (Ganja), and Cocaine. In a second residential location, which was rented out and run by the mastermind, officials recovered large quantities of Cannabis packaged for immediate distribution. Four associates employed to handle retail sales and local distribution of narcotics within Kolkata were arrested at this site. Additionally, significant amounts of cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales, were confiscated.
Meanwhile, at NSCBI Airport, the DRI intercepted four drug couriers, including three women, arriving from Bangkok. Substantial quantities of narcotic substances were recovered from their possession, indicating the syndicate’s active involvement in international drug supply chains. Further investigation revealed that one of the arrested individuals was responsible for coordinating foreign suppliers for the network.
A total of 10 individuals, all Indian nationals, were apprehended, including the primary mastermind, international drug carriers, local distributors, and middlemen. These individuals have been presented before the competent courts and placed under judicial custody.
All arrests and seizures were made under the strict provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Investigations are ongoing to further dismantle the network and trace its entire supply chain.
This operation underscores the unwavering resolve of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence to combat drug trafficking and disrupt organized criminal networks operating within India. The DRI remains committed to enforcing the rule of law and safeguarding the nation from the social and economic harms associated with narcotic trade.
