The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Delhi Customs at Indira Gandhi International Airport seized 13,128 grams of green-coloured narcotics substance, suspected to be Ganja/Marijuana, from an Indian passenger arriving from Bangkok.

The passenger travelled to Delhi on Flight AI-2303 and was intercepted at the Green Channel based on prior profiling. Customs officers diverted him for detailed screening and examination. During the baggage check, a brown trolley bag was found to contain 13 polythene pouches—each one-sided black and one-sided transparent—concealing the contraband.

Field testing confirmed that the material was prima facie Ganja/Marijuana, with an estimated illicit market value of ₹13.12 crore.

Following the seizure, the passenger was arrested at 10:00 AM under Section 43(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, for violations of Section 8 and offences punishable under Sections 20, 23, and 29. The narcotics and packaging materials were seized under Section 43(a).

Officials stated that sustained airport surveillance and targeted profiling continue to play a crucial role in intercepting narcotics trafficking through international terminals. Further investigation is underway to identify the source and network linked to the smuggling attempt.

The seizure adds to a series of recent narcotics interceptions at IGI Airport, reflecting heightened vigilance by Customs to combat cross-border smuggling operations.
