Ms. V. Sangeeta, Chief Commissioner of CGST, Hyderabad Zone, retires after a distinguished career spanning over three decades in the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes).

A 1992 batch officer of the IRS, Ms. Sangeeta’s career has been marked by grace, brilliance, and unwavering professionalism. She served with distinction across India and made notable contributions at the CBIC Board Office. Her inclusive leadership style and firm commitment to institutional value have set benchmarks.

An academic achiever, par excellence and a gold medalist, Ms. Sangeeta holds an M.B.A. and an M.A. from Punjab University. She further strengthened her credentials with a Post Graduate Diploma in Patent Law from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad.

In November 2022, she assumed charge as Principal Commissioner in Hyderabad and was later elevated to Chief Commissioner. She led the Hyderabad Zone by always combining empathy as an attentive listener. She encouraged junior officers to share their perspectives, fostering a collaborative work culture.

When she smiled, her eyes lit up, casting a quiet radiance. Beauty, brilliance, and balance defined her personality. Her charisma never dimmed, whether she was addressing a hall or simply walking in.

Colleagues recall her as gracious and accessible, a leader who embodied elegance and strength in equal measure. She has been especially lauded for her efforts to uphold staff welfare. In doing so, she not only ensured compliance amid contempt proceedings but also stood firmly for the dignity and financial rights of the staff, pushing the Accounts Department to expedite pay fixation and arrear disbursal.

As Ms. Sangeeta prepares to hang up her boots, her legacy glows—like moonlight on the harbour of public service. Her retirement is not just a departure but a celebration of a life dedicated to excellence, mentorship, and humanity in governance.

A chief commissioner, a mentor, a guiding light—Ms. V. Sangeeta exits the stage with elegance in every frame.
