These appointments are expected to significantly improve the Tribunal’s capacity to dispose of pending cases, bring uniformity in tax rulings, and enhance trust among taxpayers. The GSTAT, a vital institution for dispute resolution under the GST regime, has been under pressure to fill vacant positions after multiple rounds of litigation delayed its formation.

The appointments follow recent changes to GSTAT rules and structure after the Supreme Court’s directions on ensuring proper representation and timely justice.
