In a bid to curb fraudulent GST registrations and promote transparency, the Faridabad Commissionerate has issued a public advisory outlining key precautions that applicants must follow while registering for GST.
The advisory emphasizes the importance of accurate information, proper documentation, and vigilance in the registration process.
The notice, released by the CGST office in Faridabad, calls for citizens and the government to work together in building an honest tax system. The advisory lists several steps aimed at avoiding delays and legal issues:
- Correct Jurisdiction: Applicants must ensure they select the correct jurisdiction based on their business location. Incorrect jurisdiction can lead to rejections or delays.
- Use Personal Mobile Number and Email: Only the applicant’s personal contact details should be used to ensure important information is received directly.
- Secure Personal Documents: Documents like Aadhaar, electricity bills, and rent agreements must be handled carefully and not shared with unauthorized individuals.
- Upload Clear and Readable Documents: All documents must be uploaded in high-quality scans to avoid rejection.
- Verify Address Proof: If a rented space is used, a valid and authorized rent agreement along with the property owner’s consent is mandatory.
- Clear Photos and Signatures: Photographs and signatures should be clearly visible and free of any smudges or marks.
- Inspection Possible: Physical inspection of the business premises may be conducted. Providing fake addresses can lead to strict legal action.
- Use Same Name for Bank and GST: The bank account used for registration must be in the name of the applicant with correct IFSC details.
The notice warns that submission of fake documents or incorrect information can result in cancellation of GSTIN and legal consequences.
