Cycle Rallies Kick Off 8th GST Day Celebrations with the Slogan: “With Kerala’s Spirit, GST Stays Fit to Serve”

In Thiruvananthapuram Zone under the leadership of Shri SK Rahman, Chief Commissioner, the officers have organised successful cycle rallies today in Thiruvananthapuram , Kochi and Kozhikode association with the FIT India Campaign. This is done  to promote fitness and well-being among the public are truly commendable with the slogan “With Kerala’s Spirit, GST Stays Fit to Serve”.

This initiative by the Thiruvanthapuram Zone CGST Officers not only encourages a healthier lifestyle but also strengthens community spirit and awareness around physical fitness. 

At Thiruvanathapuram , in Southern Kerala ,  the Cycling Event was inaugurated by 3 distinguished international  athlete*s: *Ms. Jisna Mathew, who represented India in the women’s 4x400m relay at the 2016 Rio Olympics; Shri M.P. Jabir, a 400m hurdler at Tokyo 2020 and the first Indian male athlete in over three decades to qualify in this event; and Ms. Anu Raghavan, an Asian Games and Asian Championship medalist in the 400m hurdles. The event was led by five nationally acclaimed cyclists

Ms. Pooja Danole, an Asian medalist and National Games gold medalist; Ms. Dhanyadha JP, an Indian record holder and world top-10 ranked athlete; Ms. Srimathi J, an Asian medalist and multiple-time national gold winner; Ms. Rejiya Devi, an Asian Games participant and decorated national medalist; and Ms. Niraimathi J, an Asian and national medalist for the 2024–25 season. . More than 200 cyclists took part and got covered widely by media. That’s why it is called “ With Kerala’s Spirit, GST Stays Fit to Serve.” Except in Kerala no where in India , such sports luminaries have appeared together in a rally organised by Thiruvanthapuram CGST Zone.

At Kochi , in Central Kerala ,  cycle rally was held today under the aegis of the CGST HQ, Cochin along with the FIT India Campaign to spread fitness awareness amongst people. This was also a precursor to the 8th GST Day celebrations coming up on July 1st, 2025.The rally was flagged off by Shri P.R. Lakra, Pr Commissioner,  CGST Cochin,  in the presence of Sri R Sharma, AD, Sports Authority of India. Senior officers and staff of  CGST, Cochin, took part in the rally.

Similarly at Kozhikode , in Northern Kerala ,  cycling event was organized today at Calicut by the CGST Commissionerate, Kozhikode. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), local cycling enthusiasts, as well as staff members of the Department along with their families. Clad in bright yellow GST jerseys, the participants cycled along the scenic Beach Road of Calicut, spreading awareness and promoting a spirit of fitness and community engagement. The Department extends its gratitude to all participants for their wholehearted involvement and support.

Such initiative , by the Chief Commissioner Thiruvanthapuram Zone not only encourages a healthier lifestyle but also strengthens community spirit and awareness around physical fitness. Such events serve as a great reminder of the importance of staying active and adopting fitness as a daily habit.
