The Income Tax Department conducted large-scale raids on Monday at the residence and offices of Chartered Accountant Nikhil Gupta, his brother and Company Secretary Priyam Gupta, and Priyam’s wife, CA Yashika Gupta, in the Delhi Chungi area of Meerut.

The raids, which began early Monday morning and continued late into the night, involved scrutiny of financial documents, computers, laptops, and other digital data. According to sources, the operation was part of a nationwide crackdown on bogus tax deductions and irregularities.

Officials reported that the action was prompted by allegations of fraudulent income tax returns involving fake deductions for medical expenses, school fees, and political donations. The Income Tax Department suspects that fake documents were used to help clients claim illegitimate tax exemptions.

Teams from Meerut, Noida, and Ghaziabad arrived at the premises around 6 AM in eight vehicles. Officers continued the investigation at the residence in Ghaziabad till 9 PM, examining digital data and other evidence.

According to department sources, this raid is part of a broader campaign currently underway at more than 200 locations across the country to identify and act against tax evasion through fictitious deductions. The accused are also suspected of using shell companies to manipulate financial records.

During the search, one room was locked and thoroughly examined. Officials also questioned staff members as part of the probe. The investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
