The Income Tax Department has begun issuing refunds for the Assessment Year (AY) 2025-26, with several taxpayers reporting that their refunds have been credited within a week of filing their returns. This is notably faster than the timelines observed in previous years.
Chartered Accountant Chirag Chauhan shared on social media that he received his refund within just seven days of filing, calling the process “faster than last year.” He thanked the Income Tax Department for the quicker turnaround and invited others to share their experiences.
According to an SMS credit notification he posted, the refund was successfully transferred to his bank account on August 27, 2025.
The faster processing is being attributed to improvements in the Centralised Processing Centre (CPC) system and enhanced integration between the Income Tax Department and banking channels. Tax experts note that quicker refunds will significantly ease liquidity concerns for individual taxpayers and businesses alike.
The Income Tax Department has not yet issued an official statement, but users across social media are echoing similar experiences, indicating that refunds are being processed in record time this year.
Experts believe this efficiency could encourage greater compliance and timely filing of returns.
