ACC Empanels 64 IRS Officers of 1993 Batch for Promotion as Chief Commissioners of Income Tax; 8 in Extended Panel

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has empanelled 64 officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax), 1993 batch, for promotion to the grade of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT) in Level 16 of the Pay Matrix for the panel years 2025 (Review) and 2026 (Regular Panel).

The empanelment has been cleared except in the case of Anurag Goyal of the 1993 batch.

Out of the total 64 officers empanelled, eight names have been placed in the extended panel, which will be operated in the event that officers recommended in the main panel are not available for promotion during the vacancy year 2026 due to retirement, deputation, or other contingencies.

Panel for the Year 2025 (Review)

The following officers have been empanelled under the Review panel for 2025:

Extended Panel for 2026

The extended panel, to be operated if required during the vacancy year 2026, comprises the following officers:

Avadesh Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, Harishankar Kumar Lal, Sangram R Gaikwad, Aroop Kumar Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Rajesh Kumar Bhoot.

The empanelment marks a significant administrative development in the Income Tax Department, paving the way for senior-level leadership appointments at the apex field formations across the country. The promotions to the CCIT grade will be subject to availability of vacancies and completion of necessary formalities as per service rules.
