10 IRS Officers Promoted to Joint Commissioner Rank: CBIC

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), has issued Office Order, promoting ten officers of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) (Customs & Indirect Taxes) to the prestigious grade of Joint Commissioner.

According to the official notification dated 14th May 2025, the promotions are based on the seniority list dated 27.03.2025/25.04.2025, with effect from the dates the officers assumed charge. The promoted officers will serve on an ‘as is where is’ basis until formal postings are approved.

Key Highlights:

  • No arrears of pay shall be admissible due to the notional nature of the promotion.
  • Promotions are subject to outcome of court cases, if any.
  • Officers will continue in their current postings until further orders.

This promotion comes under the pre-revised pay scale of Pay Band–3 with Grade Pay Rs. 7600, aligning with the government’s structured cadre management policy.
