The Thiruvananthapuram Customs has seized Hydroponic Weed and Amphetamine-Laced Chocolates worth Rs. 40 Crore.

In a major breakthrough in the fight against narcotics smuggling, officers of the Thiruvananthapuram Zone, under the leadership of Shri S.K. Rahman, Chief Commissioner, seized a significant quantity of illicit substances at Kozhikode International Airport.

A total of 34 kilograms of high-grade hydroponic cannabis and 15 kilograms of chocolates laced with amphetamine-like substances, together valued at approximately Rs. 40 crore, were intercepted from three Indian female passengers. The individuals, hailing from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, are currently detained as investigations continue.

The contraband, cleverly concealed within baggage and disguised as personal items and edible goods, was detected through enhanced profiling techniques and coordinated surveillance by the customs intelligence unit. Subsequent field tests confirmed the presence of controlled psychotropic substances.
