CBIC Notifies Dholera As Customs Port

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has notified Dholera as a customs port for the unloading of imported goods and the loading of export goods.

The Board has added Dholera as entry (f) under serial number 6 for the State of Gujarat. This development paves the way for Dholera to handle international trade operations, making it a new gateway for customs clearance of import and export cargo.

Strategic Importance of Dholera Port

Dholera is part of the ambitious Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), which has been envisioned as India’s first smart industrial city. The addition of Dholera to the customs port list is expected to accelerate economic activities in the region and enhance its attractiveness for foreign direct investment (FDI), manufacturing, and logistics enterprises.

Experts view this notification as a boost to ‘Make in India’, Ease of Doing Business, and India’s aspiration to become a global manufacturing hub. It is expected to significantly reduce the dependency on existing ports like Mundra and Kandla, offering alternate cargo routes and reducing logistics costs.
