In a significant move aimed at bolstering food import safety and streamlining clearance procedures, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry has issued Notification No. 03 /2025-26, incorporating Darranga Land Custom Station (LCS) as a Food Import Entry Point under India’s Import Policy.

The notification amends List “A” of Appendix-V to Schedule-I (Import Policy), ITC (HS), 2022, bringing the total number of food import entry points in India to 162. This includes 28 sea ports, 16 airports, 33 land customs stations (LCSs), and 85 inland container depots (ICDs), reflecting a steady expansion in the country’s regulatory framework for food imports.

Inclusion of Darranga LCS – The notification formally recognizes Darranga LCS as an authorized food import clearance point, improving access for imports in the northeastern region.

Expansion of Land Customs Stations – The number of LCSs handling food imports has increased from 32 to 33, demonstrating the government’s commitment to easing trade barriers.

Updated FSSAI Compliance Dates – The revised entry integrates the latest Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) notifications, including the one dated 03.09.2024, ensuring alignment with updated food safety regulations.
