In a significant verdict, a Mohali court on Tuesday sentenced self-styled Christian preacher and  a Yeshu Yeshu prophet, Pastor Bajinder Singh to life imprisonment in connection with a 2018 rape case. The ruling came after the court found him guilty on March 28 under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 376 (rape), Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and Section 506 (criminal intimidation).

Pastor Bajinder Singh Sentenced to Life Imprisonment

The verdict was pronounced by Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Vikrant Kumar.

Pastor Bajinder Singh, known as the “Yeshu Yeshu prophet,” had been lodged in Patiala Jail pending trial. The case against him was filed in 2018 by a woman at the Zirakpur police station in Mohali.

The complainant alleged that Singh lured her with promises of taking her abroad but instead sexually assaulted her at his residence in Sector 63, Mohali. She further accused him of recording the act and threatening to release the video online if she did not comply with his demands.

Victim’s Reaction to the Verdict

Following the sentencing, the victim expressed her relief, stating, “He (Bajinder) is a psycho and will commit the same offense again if released. I want him to remain behind bars. Today, many victims have won. I request the DGP to ensure our security, as there is a possibility of attacks against us.”

Court Tightens Security Amid Verdict Announcement

Considering the high-profile nature of the case, stringent security measures were implemented at the court complex before the sentencing to prevent any disruptions. The court’s ruling marks a major milestone in the fight against sexual crimes in the country.

Fresh FIR Against Bajinder Singh for Sexual Harassment

In a related development, Pastor Bajinder Singh is also facing fresh charges of sexual harassment. A 22-year-old woman filed a complaint against him on February 28, prompting authorities to register another FIR. In response, a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to probe the allegations, and the Punjab State Women Commission took suo-motu cognizance of the matter.
