Know Manas Ranjan Mohanty, A New Chief Commissioners of Customs & Indirect Taxes

The Government has announced the promotion of Manas Ranjan Mohanty to the grade of Chief Commissioner of Customs & Indirect Taxes in the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes), as per the latest Office Order No. 57/2025 issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue (Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs – CBIC).

Who Is Manas Ranjan Mohanty?

Manas Ranjan Mohanty (Emp. ID: 753, Batch: 1992, DoB: 01.07.1967) holds a Master’s degree in Geology from the University of Roorkee and a Bachelor of Law from Gujarat University. Manas Mohanty began his career in Vadodara Central Excise and remained in Gujarat until his promotion to Joint Commissioner, after which he was posted to DGICCE, Chennai.

Subsequently, he served in Dibrugarh and held deputation posts in the Department of Revenue as the Competent Authority and Administrator of Forfeited Properties in Bombay, as well as in the Central Secretariat Service as a Director in the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Upon returning to cadre, he worked in Ahmedabad in both customs and central excise. Since 2015, he has been stationed in Bombay, serving as an Additional Commissioner in Raigad Central Excise, Nhava Sheva Export, Thane GST, the Customs Authority for Advance Rulings, and currently in Mumbai East GST.
