The Delhi High Court has pulled up Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after the report of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) revealing the irregularities in the Delhi excise policy.

“The way you’ve been dragging your feet is something unfortunate. You should’ve been prompt in sending it (reports) to the speaker and having a discussion at the floor of the assembly,” the court told the Delhi government.

A petition was filed by the BJP asking the current Delhi government why there was a delay in presenting the CAG report in the Delhi Assembly.

What Was Pointed Out By CAG report?

The CAG report stated that some bidders who were running in losses but were still given licenses by the then-Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi.

The CAG report underlined significant lapses in the implementation of the policy that led to a loss of approximately Rs 2,026 crores to the government.

As per the CAG Report the residents of the city bore the cost while the AAP leaders “got kickbacks”.

The report claimed that Manish Sisodia, who then led the excise department, and his group of ministers “ignored” the recommendations of the expert panel.

The report pointed out that many key decisions were taken arbitrarily without the approval of the cabinet or the Delhi LG.
