ICAI Announces January 2027 CA Intermediate and Foundation Exam Dates; Check Paper Timings

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the schedule for the Chartered Accountants Intermediate and Foundation examinations to be held in January 2027. In a notice dated September 23, 2026, its Examination Department set out the paper dates, timings and duration for both courses.

CA Intermediate examination dates

The Intermediate examination will be held across two groups. Group I papers are scheduled for January 2, 4 and 6, 2027, while Group II papers are scheduled for January 8, 10 and 12, 2027. All Intermediate papers will run from 2 pm to 5 pm IST and will be three hours long.

The examination will follow the syllabus under the scheme notified by the ICAI Council pursuant to Regulation 28F of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988.

CA Foundation examination dates

The Foundation papers are scheduled for January 3, 5, 7 and 9, 2027. Papers 1 and 2 will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm IST, with a duration of three hours each. Papers 3 and 4 will run from 2 pm to 4 pm IST, with a duration of two hours each.

ICAI said the Foundation examination will follow the syllabus under the scheme notified pursuant to Regulation 25F of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988.

Reading time and examination centres

Candidates sitting for Intermediate papers and Foundation Papers 1 and 2 will receive 15 minutes of advance reading time, from 1:45 pm to 2 pm. ICAI specified that Foundation Papers 3 and 4 will have no advance reading time.

The institute also said an examination will proceed as scheduled even if its date is declared a public holiday by the Central Government, a state government or a local body.
