The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the launch of a fully integrated Peer Review Board (PRB) Web Portal, making the peer review process completely digital. The announcement, dated July 1, 2026, marks a major step in ICAI’s digital transformation initiative aimed at streamlining the entire peer review lifecycle.

The newly launched portal has been developed by the Peer Review Board (PRB) to automate and digitize every stage of the peer review process. According to the announcement, the platform covers the complete workflow—from the submission of applications and allotment of peer reviewers to the filing of peer review reports and the final generation of Peer Review Certificates.

Exclusive Online Processing from July 2

ICAI has clarified that with effect from July 2, 2026, all new peer review applications (Form 1) will be processed exclusively through the PRB Web Portal.

The Institute has categorically stated that applications submitted through any other mode, including physical documents or email, will not be accepted or entertained from the effective date onwards. This marks a complete transition from the earlier hybrid system to a fully digital application process.

Portal to Cover Entire Peer Review Lifecycle

The integrated portal has been designed to eliminate manual intervention and improve efficiency by providing a single platform for all stakeholders involved in the peer review process.

The portal facilitates:

  • Submission of new Peer Review applications (Form 1);
  • Allotment of panels of Peer Reviewers;
  • Submission of Peer Review Reports by reviewers;
  • Automated processing of applications; and
  • Generation of Peer Review Certificates upon completion of the review process.

The move is expected to significantly reduce paperwork, improve transparency, accelerate processing timelines, and provide better tracking of applications.

Practice Units and Reviewers Asked to Shift to Portal

ICAI has requested both Practice Units and Peer Reviewers to immediately begin using the new portal for initiating fresh peer review applications as well as submitting peer review reports.

The Institute has also advised members to use the portal exclusively for all future peer review compliance requirements and discontinue the use of offline or email-based submissions.

Digital Transformation Initiative

The launch of the PRB Web Portal forms part of ICAI’s broader digital transformation agenda aimed at modernising professional compliance mechanisms and enhancing administrative efficiency. By integrating every stage of the peer review process into a single online platform, the Institute seeks to create a more transparent, standardized, and user-friendly compliance ecosystem for chartered accountants across the country.

The Chairman of the Peer Review Board, ICAI, urged members and Practice Units to take note of the new system and ensure that all future peer review-related activities are carried out exclusively through the web portal.
