Centre Extends Tenure of SAT Technical Member Meera Swarup Till September 8, 2026

The Central Government has extended the tenure of Ms. Meera Swarup, Technical Member of the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT), until September 8, 2026, through a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance.

The extension has been granted by the Department of Economic Affairs (Financial Markets Division) under Notification, published in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary). The notification has been issued in exercise of powers under the Tribunals Reforms Act, 2021 and the Tribunal (Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021.

According to the notification, Ms. Swarup, who was originally appointed as Technical Member of the Securities Appellate Tribunal through Notification S.O. 835(E) dated February 23, 2022, will continue in office beyond March 9, 2026, with her tenure now extended up to September 8, 2026.

The decision has been taken pursuant to the Office Memorandum dated March 9, 2026, issued by the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.

The Securities Appellate Tribunal serves as the appellate forum for adjudicating appeals against orders passed by financial sector regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and plays a significant role in the country’s securities market regulatory framework.
