Supreme Court Announces Partial Court Working Days From June 1 to July 12, 2026; Summer Benches Notified

The Supreme Court of India has notified the schedule for partial Court working days for the year 2026, announcing that the Court will function under a designated bench system from June 1, 2026 to July 12, 2026. Regular Court functioning will resume from July 13, 2026. The notification has been issued pursuant to Rule 4 and Rule 6 of Order II of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013 (as amended). 

According to the notification issued under the authority of the Chief Justice of India, specific vacation benches have been constituted to hear matters during the partial working period. The constitution of these benches is aimed at ensuring continuity in judicial functioning during the summer recess period while handling urgent and miscellaneous matters. 

The Court has constituted the following benches for the designated periods:

The notification further states that during the partial Court working period, the Supreme Court Registry will remain operational from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for officers and staff members. However, Group-C (non-clerical) staff members will follow a separate schedule from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Registry will remain closed on Saturdays (except July 11, 2026), Sundays, and holidays.
