CBDT Transfers 57 Chief Commissioners, DGIT-Rank Officers; Additional Charge Arrangements Notified

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has ordered a transfer and posting exercise involving 57 officers in the rank of Chief Commissioners of Income Tax (CCIT) and Director Generals of Income Tax (DGIT).  

The order provides for immediate transfers and postings of 57 senior officers across various regions including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Surat, Vadodara, Allahabad, Shillong, Shimla and other stations.

Among the prominent transfers, Kalika Singh has been shifted from CCIT-2 Kolkata to DGIT (Investigation), Patna, while Ajit Kumar Singh has been transferred from DGIT (DTRA), Delhi to CCIT Delhi-7. Deepali Chandra has been posted as CCIT-1 Delhi from CCIT Delhi-9. 

Nirupama Kotru has been transferred from CCIT Mumbai-7 to CCIT-4 Mumbai, whereas Nidhi Srivastava has been moved from CCIT Delhi-7 to CCIT-2 Delhi. Rajarshi Dwivedy has been shifted from CCIT Surat to DGIT (Investigation), Hyderabad. 

The CBDT has also transferred Sanjay Kumar from DGIT (Systems), Bengaluru to DGIT (Investigation), Bengaluru. Dr. Vikram Sahay has been posted as CCIT(C)-1 Mumbai from CCIT Mumbai-9. 

Several officers who were earlier holding CCIT (OSD) positions have now been assigned independent charges in different jurisdictions across the country. The order also includes additional charge arrangements relating to Interim Boards for Settlement and Boards for Advance Rulings in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. 

The CBDT clarified that officers holding Principal Commissioner or Commissioner charges prior to promotion shall continue to hold such charges until further orders. 

Further, the Board directed that compliance reports regarding relieving and joining of officers must be submitted to the CBDT and Data Base Cell by May 11, 2026. The process is required to be completed online through the IRS Officers Online portal. 

The order additionally specifies that no officer engaged in election-related work in connection with the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Union Territory of Puducherry shall be relieved or dislocated till completion of the election process.
