The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), has extended the import period for yellow peas under ITC (HS) Code 07131010 up to March 31, 2027.
The notification, issued on March 31, 2026, continues the existing import policy condition that was previously set to expire on March 31, 2026. This extension ensures that importers can continue bringing in yellow peas without the imposition of a Minimum Import Price (MIP) and without any port restrictions, thereby maintaining ease of trade and ensuring steady supply in the domestic market.
Under the revised framework, imports of yellow peas will remain categorized as “free,” subject to mandatory registration under the Import Monitoring System (IMS). The policy applies to all consignments for which the Bill of Lading (Shipped on Board) is issued on or before March 31, 2027. All other terms and conditions specified in earlier notifications remain unchanged.
The extension comes in continuation of a series of notifications issued since December 2023, reflecting the government’s ongoing strategy to manage domestic availability and price stability of pulses. By removing key barriers such as MIP and port restrictions, the government has sought to facilitate smoother imports and prevent supply shortages.
