Taxpayers and professionals across India reported difficulties accessing the GST Portal after the system displayed a server communication error, disrupting several online compliance activities on the platform.
According to the error message appearing on the portal, the issue seems to be an “inadvertent problem while communicating with the GST system.” The message indicates that the server is unable to fetch data from the backend application, which may be causing the portal to temporarily malfunction.
The portal further lists possible reasons for the glitch, including corrupted data transmission from internet browsers, interrupted network connectivity between the user’s system and the GST server, or backend server issues. Taxpayers attempting to log in or perform filings were advised to refresh the webpage and try again later.
The Goods and Services Tax Network, which manages the technology infrastructure for the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, has not yet issued an official clarification regarding the outage at the time of reporting. However, such disruptions often occur due to heavy traffic or backend maintenance activities.
The error message also directs users to raise complaints through the grievance redressal portal if the issue persists. Tax professionals have expressed concern that recurring technical glitches can create difficulties for businesses, particularly when compliance deadlines are approaching.
Users have been advised to retry after some time, check their internet connectivity, or access the portal using different browsers while the system stabilizes. Many taxpayers are hopeful that the issue will be resolved quickly to avoid delays in GST filings and related compliance activities.
