Selection Committee to Interview 15 Senior IRS Officers for CBIC Member Posts: Meetings Scheduled on Dec 29 & Jan 2

The Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, has released the official meeting notice for the Selection Committee tasked with shortlisting candidates for the prestigious posts of Member, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). The notice, issued from Room No. 14106, North Block, outlines a two-day schedule for personal interactions with shortlisted senior IRS (Customs & Indirect Taxes) officers.

The interactions will take place at the Cabinet Secretariat, Committee Room (Room No. 103), 1st Floor, Seva Teerth-2, New Delhi, on 29 December 2025 and 2 January 2026. The process follows a communication from the Cabinet Secretariat dated December 8, 2025.

Who Will Be Appearing Before the Committee?

Fifteen senior officers have been scheduled for personal interaction. The list spans multiple batches of the IRS cadre, reflecting the wide pool of candidates considered eligible for top policymaking roles in indirect taxation.

  • Vimal Kumar Srivastava – 03:30 PM

  • Anuj Gogia – 04:15 PM
  • Kajal Singh – 04:30 PM

Purpose of the Interaction

The Selection Committee is responsible for evaluating senior-level officers for appointment to the CBIC — India’s apex body overseeing:

  • Goods and Services Tax (GST) administration
  • Customs operations
  • Indirect tax policy implementation

Appointments to the Board are considered among the most crucial positions in the revenue ecosystem, influencing national taxation strategy and enforcement.
