The Customs Officers of IGI Airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling of gold jewellery on 23.09.2025 against one Indian male passenger aged 31 years who arrived by a domestic flight no. 6E 2417 dated 23.09.2025 from Imphal to New Delhi at Terminal-1, IGI Airport, New Delhi.
Acting on a specific input, the pax was intercepted by the customs officers and his personal & baggage examination resulted in the recovery of assorted gold jewellery of high purity collectively weighing 867 grams found concealed in his baggage. The total Tariff value of the above said recovered gold came to Rs. 94,99,027.
The pax has admitted that the recovered gold jewellery has been smuggled from Myanmar through land borders without payment of Customs duty and the same was being diverted to Delhi by using domestic flights to avoid detection.
The gold jewellery has been seized under section 110 of Customs Act, 1962 and the passenger has been placed under arrest in terms of Section 104 of the Customs Act, 1962. Further investigation is under progress.
