In a monumental effort to combat the growing drug menace and support the Government of India’s vision for a “Drug-Free India,” the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Jodhpur Zonal Unit has successfully destroyed a staggering 14.950 kg Heroin, with an estimated market value of ₹29.9 crores.
This drug disposal event took place on 18th September 2025, under the supervision of Sh. Maneesh, IRS, DDG(WR), Ghanasyam Soni, IRS, Zonal Director, NCB Jodhpur & Jaipur, along with Sh. Narpat, Assistant Director, NCB, and Sh. Vineet Bansal, IPS, DCP West, Police Commissionerate Jodhpur.
The destruction process, meticulously executed to ensure full legal compliance and procedural transparency, was conducted at the CBWTF (Common Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility) Plant located in Barli, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, with the drugs incinerated in a high-capacity industrial incinerator. The operation was closely monitored by a designated Board of Officers from the Drug Destruction Committee to ensure the correct and lawful disposal of these hazardous substances.
This initiative is a significant part of the Government of India’s ongoing national campaign “Drug Disposal Fortnight” to eliminate drug trafficking and abuse. In line with the government’s “नशा मुक्त भारत” (Drug-Free India) initiative, the NCB Jodhpur Zonal Unit has been diligently intensifying efforts to combat narcotic-related crimes, including the rigorous disposal of seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. This initiative also aims to send a strong message to all drug traffickers and criminals that the law enforcement agencies are committed to eradicating drug abuse and bringing an end to the illegal drug trade that threatens the safety and health of the nation.
The Zonal Director, NCB Jodhpur & Jaipur, emphasized the importance of citizen participation in achieving the goals of Nasha Mukt Bharat and the Drug-Free India initiative. He urged the public to utilize the MANAS portal and the toll-free number 1933 to report information on drug trafficking.
The NCB’s efforts are closely aligned with the broader national mission of making India a drug-free country. The department is working tirelessly to not only curb the supply of illegal narcotics but also to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse through educational campaigns, public outreach, and collaborations with local law enforcement agencies.
