The legal battle over the vast estate of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur has intensified, as his children with Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor have accused their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, of forging their father’s will to exclude them from their rightful inheritance. Samaira and Kiaan Kapoor, along with their mother Karisma Kapoor, have approached the Delhi High Court, seeking justice and a declaration of their entitlement to their share in the late industrialist’s estate.
In their civil suit filed before the Delhi High Court, Samaira and Kiaan Kapoor have alleged that Priya Sachdev Kapur, who was Sunjay Kapur’s third wife, attempted to manipulate their father’s last will and testament for personal gain. The siblings claim they have never been provided full disclosure regarding their father’s extensive assets and have raised serious doubts over the authenticity of the will produced by Priya Kapur.
The complaint states that Priya initially denied the existence of any will following Sunjay’s demise in June 2025. However, she later produced a document dated March 21, 2025, which she claimed was Sunjay Kapur’s last will. The children contend that this sudden emergence of the will raises questions about its legitimacy and is part of a deliberate attempt to deprive them of their rightful inheritance.
Samaira and Kiaan Kapoor further allege that their father had repeatedly assured them of their financial security and well-being. Sunjay Kapur, the founder and chairman of Sona Comstar—one of the world’s leading automotive component manufacturers—had, according to the lawsuit, initiated business ventures in their names, acquired significant assets personally as well as through corporate entities, and designated them as beneficiaries of the family trust.
Despite these assurances, the siblings claim that Priya Kapur deliberately concealed critical information about the trust and the full extent of the assets. The lawsuit highlights that following Sunjay Kapur’s death in London due to a heart attack, Priya Kapur began restricting the children’s access to trust-related documents and financial records, raising further suspicion of malfeasance.
Estate Valued at ₹30,000 Crore
Reports estimate Sunjay Kapur’s estate to be worth approximately ₹30,000 crore, making this legal dispute highly significant. The Kapoor siblings performed their father’s last rites at Lodhi Cremation Ground on June 19, 2025, where Kiaan Kapoor was seen lighting the funeral pyre.
The family’s legal action now demands full transparency regarding the estate and seeks a declaration from the Delhi High Court affirming the children’s entitlement as rightful beneficiaries. The case is likely to attract substantial media attention, given the stature of the individuals involved and the immense value of the estate in question.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
The matter is now under judicial consideration, and all parties await the court’s direction on further proceedings. As the battle over Sunjay Kapur’s estate unfolds, it is expected to set significant legal precedents regarding inheritance disputes involving alleged forgery and concealment of assets in high-profile families.
