The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has issued a clarification regarding the issuance of GSTR-3A notices that were mistakenly sent to certain taxpayers whose GST registrations had already been cancelled.

According to the advisory, the notices for non-filing of GSTR-4 were wrongly triggered due to a system glitch. These notices were sent to composition taxpayers whose registrations were cancelled prior to the financial year 2024-25.

GSTN assured that the issue is currently under review and corrective measures are being implemented to prevent such errors in the future.

The advisory further clarified that taxpayers in such cases can safely ignore the notices as no action is required from them. However, those who continue to face related issues are advised to raise a grievance through the Self-Service Portalavailable on the GST website.

This clarification comes as a relief to many former composition taxpayers who were concerned after receiving the notices despite having their registrations cancelled.
