Delhi Trade & Taxes Dept. Warns GST Officials Over Delay in High-Risk Registration Verifications

The Department of Trade and Taxes, Government of National Capital Territory (GNCT) of Delhi, has issued a stern circular addressing delays in physical verification reports for ‘High Risk Score’ GST registration applications. The circular, dated July 23, 2025, warns officials of strict action in case of further lapses.

According to the circular issued by the Assistant Commissioner (Administration), several instances have come to light where GSTIs and Field Functionaries, who are tasked with verifying high-risk GST registrations, have failed to submit verification reports on time. In certain cases, reports were submitted with remarks stating that the address mentioned in the Application Reference Number (ARN) was outside their jurisdiction.

Taking serious note of the issue, the Competent Authority has directed that the designated GST officer must carry out the physical verification promptly and submit the report within the stipulated time. The circular emphasized that any dereliction in this duty will be viewed adversely and attract strict disciplinary action as per the applicable rules.

The directive has been circulated to key functionaries within the Department of Trade and Taxes, including the PS to Commissioner, all SCTTs, ACTT/JCTT officials, and concerned officers.
